You can tell Spring has landed in Southern Oregon for three reasons:
1. Rogue Valley residents woke up to snow on the ground… even though the calendar reads April
2. The Pear Blossom Race, Parade and other festivities are coming up this weekend
3. The Britt Festival just announced its 2011 performance schedule
That last one is a biggie. “Britt” as the locals call it (as in “Who are you seeing at “Britt”?) is an intimate outdoor music venue in historic Jacksonvile, Oregon built on grounds that once belonged to pioneer photographer Peter Britt. Britt’s appeal is in its location (on a hillside overlooking the Rogue Valley), the “grandfather clause” that allows patrons to bring in their own food and alcohol and, of course, the quality of performers it draws. This year’s lineup includes Michael Franti and Spearhead, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Teg Nugent, Willie Nelson, Sarah Bareilles, Bobby McFerrin, Aimee Mann, Cheap Trick, Chris Botti, classical violinist James Ehnes, and the John Butler Trio. John Butler… as in *Chuck* Butler… as in Butler Automotive Group. John is Chuck’s nephew! Needless to say, we at Butler Auto are beyond proud to be sponsoring the John Butler Trio’s appearance at Britt on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 7 p.m. For info on the band, visit: www.johnbutlertrio.com and http://jbtserver.com/blog/.
