Pope Francis this weekend urged priests and nuns to forgo flashy, late model cars in favor of less ostentatious vehicles. According to Reuters, the Pontiff opined that “a car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world.”
While we won’t take sides on this debate we will admit to understanding where the Pope is coming from. We would like to add, however, that plenty of the new crop of cars, trucks, and SUVs are not only beautiful but considerably safer and more fuel efficient than in previous years. New does not necessarily equal wasteful.
But we at Butler Auto Group think Pope Francis knows this. We also think he understands choosing a vehicle based on reliability and performance through the years. He does, after all, tool around Vatican City in a Ford Focus. Well played, Pope Francis. Well played.
