Silver Tarnishing as Most Popular Car Color

More drivers say buh-bye to silver, hello to white.

More drivers say buh-bye to silver, hello to white.

Finally!  I’ve been vocal about questioning the fact that silver has reigned as the most popular car color the world over for years.  I just don’t get it.  And apparently others are also starting to question silver’s favor.  Auto paint supplier PPG, Industries says silver’s no longer the number one vehicular shade in North America, Europe and Asia where white is beoming the dominant choice.  Jane Harrington heads up PPG’s color styling department.  She credits white’s popularity to tech giant Apple which made the clean shade synonymous with cutting edge technology.  Harrington says buyers also leaned towards more red and blue cars in 2013 and that browns and greys are also being requested more often.  Some automakers are pushing the boundaries even further with loud, fun, unexpected colors like pink and mint green.  Woohoo!   I’m happy.  While white may not be all that exciting it’s better than silver… and not too far off from mint green…
