Hope for Glow-in-the-Dark Road Temporarily Dims

netherlandhighway.jpgMaybe we got excited too soon.  The Dutch engineering firm that’s working on doing away with the need for street lights says its prototype glow-in-the-dark road didn’t work as well as anticipated.  The road is lined with light-absorbing paint that then glows when the sun goes down.  Heijmans Infrastructure says while the paint does glow it doesn’t do so consistently and tends to fade in the rain.  More testing is planned for this summer.
