2016 Acura ILX Production Begins!

At Butler Acura we are SO EXCITED to share an important milestone — yesterday, January 27th marks the 2 millionth sale of Acura vehicles in the United States, 20 years after Acura production began in the United States. The first new 2016 Acura ILX sports sedan rolled off the line at the assembly plant in Ohio yesterday.

So what’s different about the 2016 ILX? What makes it so special? It’s been completely redesigned and re-engineered to deliver higher performance, delivers more advanced technology and more luxury refinement than before.

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the start of Acura production in Ohio, so the introduction of the ILX is another exciting stage in our history with the Acura brand,” said plant manager Rob May. “Our associates are applying our tremendous experience in producing high quality Acura products and will leverage the production of TLX and ILX in one plant to meet the high expectations of our Acura customers.”

Refreshed 2016 Acura ILX to Debut at Los Angeles Auto Show

In exactly a month we’ll get our first full look at what Acura calls the “substantially new” 2016 ILX.  In a press release yesterday Acura promised to unveil the refreshed entry-level luxury sedan at the 2014 L.A. Auto Show.  Updates include a new powertrain and tweaks in internal and external styling.  You’re invited to attend the debut in person.  Just stop by the Acura booth at the L.A. Acura Presents Three Custom Sedans at SEMA

Acura’s showing off three specially outfitted sedans at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas.  The two RLXs and single ILX are the result of collaboration between Acura, Evasive Motorsports and MAD Industries.  The cars include Evasive’s 2014 RLX VIP sedan, a vehicle that looks and plays well in both dress-up and dress-down situations.  MAD Industries created the 2014 RLX Urban Luxury sedan, a car designed for the everyday driver with a taste for performance, and the Acura Street Performance ILX, a sedan that’s fun to drive no matter where you take it.  For all custom work details click here.

Acura Partners with Indie Rock Band Metric to Market the ILX to Gen Y

It’s a big year in terms of Acura “firsts”.  This summer the company released the first ever ILX, an entry level compact luxury sedan.  To market the car, Acura’s partnered with Indie rock band Metric.  The idea is to meet members of the target market (ie. young adults) where they live. Acura Brand Manager Susie Rossick says, “This first of its kind Acura integration allows the brand to meaningfully engage with a band that is recognizable and favored among Gen Y.”  The collaboration was timed to coincide with the release earlier this summer of Metric’s new album, Synthetica.  The music and the ILX are being featured in a handful of invitation only concerts in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia, and fans can access exclusive content and sweepstakes on Acura and Metric’s Facebook pages.

If Metric’s tunes sound familiar you may have heard them on a number of movies and television shows.  Acura’s hoping the band’s popularity will help introduce a new demographic to the possibility of owning a luxury vehicle;  The sporty ILX starts at less than $26,000.  And music fans will be thrilled to note it comes standard with Pandora internet radio interface.
